Jersey's new Heart Screening service has recently been launched. Heart for Life offers members of the public a quick and effective way of determining whether they have heart problems that could increase their risk of heart symptoms or cardiac arrest. The screening service is available via the website http://www.heartforlife.co.uk
Users can choose a package of heart screening tests and book directly. The tests are then performed using state of the art equipment in Jersey General Hospital and reported by Dr Andrew Mitchell.
The Heart for Life⢠programme will be of particular benefit for young adults and athletes to detect if they have heart conditions such as cardiomyopathy or rhythm disturbances. Heart for Life use tests and procedures recommended by the International Olympic Committee, the American Heart Association, the European Society of Cardiology and FIFA.
