Sister Angela Moss has recently been appointed as the Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist for the General Hospital. The new role is funded by a generous anonymous charitable donation and is initially a part time position in the Cardiology Department. Sister Moss will be aiming to improve the care of patients in Jersey with heart rhythm problems that affects 1 in 50 of the population.
Having completed her nurse training in Southampton, Sister Moss specialised in Cardiology and Cardio-thoracic medicine in London before moving back to Jersey five years ago where she has since been working as a Sister on the Critical Care Unit.
The new role will see the development of a pre-assessment clinic for patients attending interventional cardiology procedures in the Island with cardiologist Dr. Andrew Mitchell. One of the key roles of the post will be to streamline and develop the cardioversion service that restores irregular heart rhythm with an electric shock across the chest. The hope is to increase capacity within the service by developing nurse-delivered procedures.
Sister Moss is the third cardiac specialist nurse to be charity appointed, joining Lisa Anderson and Lee-Ann Penn. If you want to make a donation to support these services then please click here.
